Firstly using substances derived from vitamin A like retin-a or tazarotene, to reduce inflammation of the skin and to unplug pores. Retin-A can cause skin reddening at first but this is quite normal as the skin's blood supply is improved and younger looking skin begins to appear presenting a youthful complexion. Using a product that includes zinc will also help the vitamin a function better.

If you have found that the over the counter products are not working for you, I would suggest seeing a dermatologist, they will be able to assess your situation and provide treatment options.

The following are some helpful hints:

Wash your face 2 to 3 times a day, no more, as this will strip the skin of necessary oils.

Do not pick, as this can cause scars

Salacylic Acid helps to exfoliate the skin

Benzoyl Peroxide helps to kill the acne bacteria
Acne Prone skin should be treated with some type of antibacterial agent such as the benzoyl peroxide or salacylic acid but not too much of it because it will dry the skin out and age the skin as well...

The honey you are talking about is for moisturizing the skin. You can mix oatmeal with the honey and have a mask..Oatmeal for exfoliating and the honey to moisturize.

I have suffered with acne for years and honestly still have not found alot of things to work for me because I have cystic acne which is the most severe acne anyone can have! It is horrible !But for you I would really reccomend: cleanse your skin with a foaming face wash (not a cream cleanser,,that would be for dry skin, anyone with acne usually has oily skin) tone the skin with a mild astringent such as witch hazel, exfoliate twice a week with sugar (it is the best exfoliant to use on the skin because the grains are so small and wont harm or tear the skin) then moisturize with an oil free moisturizer. You can still use the benzoyl peroxide as a spot treatment...

Good Luck!
Take a look at Bill's Acne Solution. It worked for me.
